The Enemy is always looking for ways to eat away at the lives of God’s people; to destroy Christian fruitfulness and faithfulness. Like it or not, he is good at what he does. But he also possesses a deep blindness. While the Devil is working to destroy the lives of the saints and deceive souls, the sovereign God of the universe is orchestrating it for good.

You may call it, “the seasons of life”. There is good in every season. The changing seasons shape us, mold us and teach us to be more aware; more dependent on Christ.

There is no formula here. Some seasons are longer than others. Changes come without warning. You may wake tomorrow morning to tragic news that changes everything. Hopelessness sets in at first, but Christ remains the object of eternal hope.

Sitting in the Doctor’s office you may receive news of something you thought you’d never hear. This is not the end for Christians. It is the beginning of another season in which Christ will prove He is still faithful. He will teach you things through those long and hard roads that you could never have learned otherwise.

Can you see the value in seasons yet? He will bring light to your darkness and restore you in His timing. Whatever you lose in the physical, He will restore in ways greater than you can possibly imagine. If not here, He will do it in eternity.

Life is not an exact science. You may not always be able to tell when a change is coming, but you can find comfort in the fact that He sees it all. Find comfort in the fact that Jesus also experienced a variety of seasons while on earth. Consider how He lived in the joy of obedience to His Heavenly Father. He lived in the close fellowship of His disciples who loved Him. Jesus experienced seasons of celebration, feasts, and festivals. But He was not without tribulations. Our Lord learned obedience through suffering. He taught His disciples to hunger for spiritual food, because physical food is temporal. He endured ridicule, abandonment, and sorrow. Ultimately, He died a death He did not deserve.

Through every season, even that horrific crucifixion, He turned His eyes to Heaven and trusted the foreordained work and masterful plan of the Father. Following this example we too can find strength to resist the Enemy, and trust the Father in whatever season we find ourselves in. Satan will flee as we draw nearer to God. Changing seasons will remain hard, but we can learn to rejoice in the beauty of His plan. He is the grand conductor of it all. He does it all for the sake of His glory.

Stand back and look for a moment at your life. Do you see that God is the Master Builder, Composer and Conductor of your life? It takes faith to see it. Even in the painful seasons, somewhere along the road you can find good fruit emerging from the midst of it. Your current season may be cold and bitter. Wait patiently on the Lord. There’s another season coming, and it just may be full of the warm and sweet reassurance of His love. He loves you.
